Wyeth has known since last year that some of its milk products have been affected by the Milenyo typhoon in July 2006 resulting in rust and molds in its milk cans and cartons. Recall of all remaining affected products, however, have only been made this week, after (coincidentally or as a result?) the debate on commercializing breast milk substitute has publicly started.
Almost one year after the typhoon affected 2.5 million wyeth milk products in Canlubang, Laguna, how many have children have drunk milk from Bonnamil, Promil and Progress cans and cartons with rusts and molds? Regardless if this cans have health hazards or none, I agree with what Health Undersecretary Alex Padilla has said, the public, especially mothers have the right to know. This is irresponsibility on the part of the Wyeth.
